A bodyboarder was bitten Wednesday off the Big Island of Hawaii by what was believed to be a 10- to 12-foot tiger shark.
A 29-year-old unidentified Captain Cook man was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to Hawaii News Now.
The incident occurred at about 8 a.m. near Punalu'u Beach Park in Ninole Bay, in shallow water about 20 yards from shore. The bay and beach were ordered closed by lifeguards and will reopen Friday at noon.
This marks the 14th known shark attack in Hawaiian waters this year. Eight of those, two of which resulted in a fatality, occurred off Maui.
