Power plant workers commuting through Sechelt Inlet off British Columbia got the surprise of a lifetime when they encountered a mountain lion that seemed intent on climbing aboard their boat.
According to Outdoor Canada, the boaters at first thought the animal was a much smaller bobcat, so they approached the animal and may have intended to bring it aboard.
When they discovered it was a cougar, they backed away and remained just out of the animal's reach until it turned and seemed to swim toward shore. Clearly, the boaters were not doing an already stressed cougar any favors. (As reader Brian W. points out, they wouldn't have been doing themselves any favors, either, had they let the big cat onto the boat.)
Warning: video contains profanity.
Did these grown men really think a mountain lion was trying to attack a boat? Did they ever think maybe this animal was in distress and needed help? I hope the cat made it to shore and is ok.

Good point Brian. Mad cat in a small boat would have had all the people jumping overboard. Might have to add that to the story.

They wouldn't have been doing themselves any favors either, if that cat had gotten into that boat. Well, maybe if the furry creature had been de-clawed, de-fanged, and well domesticated. Wild video. That could have gotten ugly. Maybe it wanted to get on the boat, make them all jump overboard, and then dive back in to take its pick for dinner?
