Marine mammal enthusiasts are sure to appreciate the accompanying video showing an adult humpback whale and what looks like a calf hamming it up Monday off the coast of Queensland, Australia.
Humpbacks are among the more active and gregarious of large cetaceans, and that became evident to those fortunate enough to have been close to the spectacle.
As you can see, these great leviathans, which can weigh up to 40 tons, are capable of explosive leaps, or breaches, and can displace a lot of water.
