White sea bass and yellowtail also have been biting sporadically at Catalina and San Clemente islands, respectively. The Options was among the vessels checking in with sea bass limits on Father's Day.
Action at the islands is keeping Southern California fishermen busy
while they await less-windy conditions to explore the offshore tuna
grounds.
As for the yellowtail bite at the Coronado Islands, it's reminiscent of the old days: big fish and a steady bite.
One of the top scores on Sunday was by anglers aboard the Sea Adventure 80. They bagged nearly 100 yellowtail and "most were hogs," Capt. Terry Clayton said. The vessel runs from H&M Landing in San Diego.
The bite should hold up at least through the week.
