The trout didn't put up much of a fight, but the osprey that grabbed the hooked fish and soared over the lake with the catch was unstoppable. That is, until the large raptor released the trout from the grasp of its mighty talons.
A YouTube user named McDirtyBirdy uploaded the accompanying video last week after his fly-fishing excursion to an Oregon lake. He was in a float tube, nearly at surface-level, and presumably using a mounted camera as he tried to film his landing of a small trout.
But the osprey perceived the struggling fish as an easy meal and swooped down for the catch. It flew across the lake before letting go. The angler then reeled the fish to his float-tube, and set it free.
"One lucky trout," he concluded.
