Mountain High in Wrightwood opened for top-to-bottom snowboarding and skiing today, marking what the resort claims is the 14th consecutive season it has been the first Southern California resort to open.
Terrain is limited on a machine-made base of 8-12 inches. The Blue Ridge Express is servicing Upper Chisolm, Lower Chisolm and Cruiser trails, which are mostly for intermediate-level riders and skiers. More terrain is expected to open Friday.
Early-season prices cost $40 for adults and $25 for kids 7-12. Children 6 and younger can ride and ski for free. The resort is open from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. daily.
Mammoth Mountain in the Eastern Sierra also opened Thursday. Resorts in the Big Bear Lake area are hoping to open before the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
