A sure sign of spring and great news for fans of Yosemite National Park: The Mariposa Grove Road, which provides access to the majestic grove of giant sequoias, will open Friday at 9 a.m.
The road is located near the park’s South Entrance, on Highway 41. Commercial services within Mariposa Grove, including guided tours, will begin later in the season.
There's a 6,000-pound weight restriction on the road and visitors should exercise caution as snow and ice might still be present. Also, the Mariposa Grove Road may intermittently close because of weather conditions. Tioga and Glacier Point roads remain closed.
